Responsibilities:

Web Site/Online Communications



  • Participate in strategic plans for Web site development and enhancements. Liaise with Pew Economic Policy team as they plan, build and maintain their divisional Web site.

  • Review and post content on the Pew public Web site,photography, slide shows and multimedia materials. Maintain appropriate links. Initiate and manage periodic text updating of institutional content. Coordinate with divisional Web teams on content.

  • Train and serve as a resource for divisional Web teams on organizational policy and procedures. Also, assist program areas as they use online tools to build awareness of their work.

  • Draft, edit and refine content from online and offline sources. Recognize, employ and encourage good Web writing. Increase the compatibility of our content with search engines and for Web users. Oversee content development by producing editorial schedules and perform project management tasks while working with program areas to deliver approved and finalized content. Prioritize quality assurance tasks.

  • Participate in the administration of online marketing campaigns including proposing content to be marketed; drafting advertisements for review and approval; and placing them on major search engines. Make appropriate adjustments, manage budget and report results. Assist in new strategy development in online marketing and outreach.

  • Produce reports on quarterly and annual traffic statistics for multiple Web sites, including paid and organic search results.

  • Conduct Web research. Monitor news, blogs and other consumer-generated media.

  • Manage and update Pew institutional resources and photo archives for use on Web and in publications.


Other Departmental



  • Update Communications and program staff about new Web opportunities and changes in the online communications environment.

  • Participate in team focusing on strategic planning for maximizing knowledge resources and internal communications.

  • Contribute to and participate in tasks and special projects as assigned by the Communications managing director, as needed.


Impact



  • Streamline access to information from Pew and its programs by adding additional content and maintaining the organization's public Web site.

  • Create opportunities to capitalize on advances in Web site development and electronic communications.

  • Educate operations and program staff on the value of online tools and keep the institution abreast of new Web-related tools, solutions and initiatives through both verbal communications and written proposals.




Requirements:



  •  Must have excellent oral communications, writing, editing and research skills and be able to work individually and in groups to meet goals.Proven ability to frame and draft cogent written messages.


  • Strong strategic and tactical Web editorial skills, honed by previous Web site management experience in either the for-profit or nonprofit arena.

  • Five years of Web-site management and/or marketing experience. Professional experience in marketing communications and project management with an agency, corporation or nonprofit organization is required.

  • Experience working with HTML.Knowledge of PhotoShop, Home Site or a similar HTML editor, scanning software, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, layout software and Web traffic software, such as WebTrends.

  • Strong project-management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, organize time and identifies resources for projects. Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Flexible.Ability to juggle multiple priorities, organize time and identify resources for projects and anticipate Web content.

  • Sound consultation and relationship management skills.

  • Team player. Able to work in groups and individually to meet goals.Understandsorganizational structures and is able to work effectively through administrative systems.

  • Bachelor's degree required and master's degree preferred with a concentration in marketing or marketing communications.Experience in advertising, information technology, design or writing is a plus. Minimum 5 years' experience.
